The world of publishing is changing dramatically with the creation of services like Kindle. One of the panels at the recent Worldcon discussed this issue focusing on the genre of science fiction and the medium of short stories. The panel included:
- Stephen H. Segal of Weird Tales Magazine,
- Sheila Williams of Asimov’s Science Fiction,
- Lou Anders of Pyr Books, and
- Neil Clarke of Clarkesworld Magazine
Rather than detail every part of the discussion here I suggest you go and read the article How Technology Has Transformed Short Science Fiction and Fantasy over at io9. Or do you agree with Alain de Botton who said tonight on Twitter that ”to read about the future of publishing as a writer is like for a patient to google the progress of an aggressive disease.”
Charlie Jane Anders writes about Sci-Fi for io9.com and currently working on a fantasy novel. The article first appeared on io9.com on the 24th of August 2011.
